MY STREETWEAR INFLUENCES - CURRENT BRANDS I LIKE

C2H4® CASE #R000 "FM-2030" CAMPAIGN

In the streetwear industry, brands are always releasing new collections and putting out content like there’s no tomorrow. Every brand has something that keeps them unique from everyone else on the market, whether it be Jeff Staple’s pigeon icon or Benny Gold’s paper plane. Those icons help brands stand out more, and help make them household names in streetwear culture.  I love storytelling with brands, and if I can see their vision and mission portrayed in their collections, it makes me appreciate the brand more. Two brands that I’ve been currently into are C2H4, and Aimé Leon Dore. Both of these brands are unique and have different styles from each other, and that’s what I like about them.

C2H4 has more of a futuristic meets functionality vibe to it. They restructure simple pieces like dress shirts and work pants, and add more functionality to them by adding zippers and extra pockets for storage. C2H4 is the molecular formula for Ethylene. The brand is all about creating new things from different materials. Like a chemist in a lab, C2H4 takes clothing that already exists and transforms it into something new or adds a twist on a classic. I really like this brand because they stand out from the crowd. I came across this brand randomly last year after seeing an influencer I follow wearing a belt bag from them. Their style is very out of my comfort zone, but that’s also why I like them. Although my style is usually the same, I try to branch out slowly and try something different with my style here and there.

Aimé Leon Dore Spring/Summer 2019

Aimé Leon Dore Spring/Summer 2019

Aimé Leon Dore is a lifestyle brand based out of Queens, New York. They strive on simplicity and a timeless aesthetic. They incorporate ready-to-wear and sportswear pieces into every collection they release, which makes them a dynamic brand that is on top of its game. I’m all for simplicity and clean color palettes, and that’s exactly what Aimé Leon Dore’s Spring/Summer 2019 collection offers. I’ve known about the brand for a while, but they got on my radar ever since I went to Hypefest in October 2018. I went to their booth and was drawn in by their simplistic styles and clean aesthetic. It was like a breath of fresh air, and I’ve been hooked ever since.

What are some brands that you’ve been into lately?
